Adding a home

There are three ways to add a home: share a listing from Rightmove, Zoopla or OnTheMarket, type the address, or add the brochure the agent sent you. All three are free.

Share from the listing

Open the listing in the Rightmove, Zoopla or OnTheMarket app, or in Safari. Tap Share, then tap HomeBuyerGuide. You'll see the photo, price and address, then "Added to Homes". Tap Open to go to it.

The page you shared is read on your phone. We don't collect listings from any website ourselves. If the page isn't a single home, we say so.

Put HomeBuyerGuide at the front of your share sheet

It takes about 20 seconds, and you only do it once.

You can open these steps again from + in Homes, then "Or share from the listing".

Copy the listing's link in Rightmove, Zoopla or OnTheMarket. Then tap + in Homes and tap Paste. Other links don't work.

No listing? Enter the address

For a private sale, a board in a window, or a home not on the portals yet. Tap + in Homes, then "No listing? Enter the address". Add the door number, street and postcode, and the price if you know it.

We fill in what public records have: the EPC, past sales and the area. What we don't know becomes a question for the agent. The price you typed shows as "You entered". You can change the price and type of home later in Edit details. What you type is kept as a draft until you save or cancel.

Photos for these homes

Tap "Add photos" to pick from your library or take one. These photos stay on your phone. We don't read them with AI, so for these homes, look for problems yourself at the viewing.

Add from a brochure

Agents often email a brochure, sometimes for homes that aren't on the portals. Share the PDF or photos from Mail or Files to HomeBuyerGuide, or tap + in Homes, then "Add from a brochure". To add one to a home you already have, tap ⋯ on its page, then "Add the agent's brochure".

We take the text out on your phone. Only the text is sent to be read, and every fact must match a line in the brochure. Before saving, you check each one, with the page and the words it came from underneath. Photos and floor plans stay on your phone. Facts show as "Agent's brochure" with the date. Anything the brochure doesn't say becomes a question.

The same home twice

The same home is often listed on two sites, or by two agents. We keep it as one home when we're sure it's the same: the same address record, or the same postcode, bedrooms, type, size and price, or the same photos. A home you added by hand or from a brochure joins its listing when it appears on a portal.

When we're not sure, you'll see "Same home?" in Homes. Tap "Yes, same home" or "No, different".

A home with more than one listing shows them under Listings in Records. If one isn't the same home, swipe it and tap "Not this home". Make your offer through the agent who showed you round.

Tap ⋯ on a home's page, or the link under the source in Records, to open "View on Rightmove", Zoopla or OnTheMarket. It opens the page you shared. If the listing has been taken down, the portal will say so.

Keeping listings up to date

If you share a home you already have, we update its details. Listings older than a week are read again in the background when you open the app.

Homes you've ruled out

Swipe a home, or press and hold it, and tap "Set aside". Pick why: over your budget, under offer, sold, or not for you. It moves to "Set aside" at the bottom of Homes with everything kept. If you share the listing again, it comes back marked "Back on the market". Tap "Put back" any time.

Map

Use the Map and List switch at the top of Homes to see all your homes on a map. On a home's page, tap the address to open a full map, with Open in Apple Maps and, if you have it, Google Maps. The Area tab starts with a small map too. If we only know the postcode, the map shows a circle and says "Approximate: we only know the postcode."
