Terms of use
Draft for legal review, 29 October 2026. Placeholders are in [square brackets].
These terms are an agreement between you and [Company name], [registered address], company number [number] ("we", "us"). By using HomeBuyerGuide you agree to them. Please also read our privacy policy.
#What HomeBuyerGuide is
HomeBuyerGuide helps you organise and check homes you're thinking of buying in England. It reads listings you share, checks them against our rules and public records, suggests questions to ask, helps you plan viewings and keep notes, and drafts emails and offer letters for you to send yourself.
#Who can use it
You must be 18 or over and buying a home for yourself or with a partner. The app covers homes in England. Some information, like council tax, stamp duty and flood risk, covers only parts of the UK, and the app says so where it applies.
#It isn't advice
HomeBuyerGuide gives you information to help you ask better questions. It isn't:
- a survey or an inspection of the property;
- a valuation;
- legal advice, or a replacement for your conveyancer;
- financial or mortgage advice, or a replacement for a mortgage broker.
Price comparisons, condition notes, flags, mortgage and stamp duty figures are estimates from public data and the listing. They can be wrong or out of date. Always check anything important with the right professional before you make an offer, exchange contracts or complete. The decision to view, offer or buy is yours.
#Information from other sources
We show public data from government and other sources, with the source and date. We don't control these sources and can't promise they're complete or accurate. Listings come from the pages you share. Agents and sellers are responsible for what their listings say. The full list of sources and licences is in Help, under "Where our numbers come from".
#Using the app properly
Please:
- share only listings you're genuinely interested in, for your own home search;
- be honest and polite in messages you send to agents. You send them from your own email, and you're responsible for them;
- don't try to copy, scrape or resell data from the app, or use it to build another service;
- don't misuse the app, try to get around limits, or interfere with how it works;
- keep your phone and account secure.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
#Your content
Your notes, scores and photos stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them only to provide the app to you, and to your partner if you share a journey.
#Plans and payment
Some features are free. Others need a paid plan:
- Journey Pass: one payment, for up to 12 months or until you complete, whichever comes first. It includes one partner.
- Monthly: for you only. It renews each month until you cancel.
During the beta, paid features may be free to use. We'll tell you before you need to pay.
Payments, renewals, cancellations and refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store's terms. You can cancel a monthly plan in Settings › your name › Subscriptions. Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription.
Your rights under consumer law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015, aren't affected by these terms.
#Recommendations
[Not live yet.] We may suggest mortgage brokers, conveyancers or surveyors. If we do, we'll say clearly that we may receive a fee from firms we introduce. You never have to use them, and we don't rank them by what we're paid.
#Our responsibility to you
We'll provide the app with reasonable care and skill. We aren't responsible for:
- decisions you make about buying a home;
- losses caused by information from listings, agents, sellers or public data sources;
- losses that weren't foreseeable, or business losses.
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law.
#Changes and ending
We may update the app and these terms. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app. You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time.
#Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
